House OKs Bill to Streamline Arctic Drilling

The House has passed legislation that would accelerate offshore drilling in the Arctic by curtailing environmental reviews of coastal oil exploration projects.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks is planning the formation of a science and technology center for oil spill prevention and preparedness in the Arctic, Mark Myers, vice chancellor for research at UAF.

NASA Sets Sail on Second Leg of Arctic Ocean Research Voyage

Scientists embark this week from Alaska on the second and final campaign of a NASA field campaign to study how changing conditions in the Arctic affect the ocean’s chemistry and ecosystems.
